To begin the process of applying for an Indian visa, you will first need to gather all of the necessary documents. You will need your passport, a valid US passport-style photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport), two recent passport-style photos taken within the past 6 months, and your application fee (which is $130 for most countries).
After gathering your documents, you next need to fill out the Visa Application Form DS-156 (available online). This form requires information such as your name (as it appears on your passport), date of birth, citizenship status, occupation, place of residence in the United States at the time of application, and reason for travel. Online Indian Visa Application
The Indian visa application process can be a bit of a headache for US citizens, but it’s not impossible to apply online. Here are the steps you need to take to apply for an Indian visa online:
- Start by heading over to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs website and clicking on the “Apply For A Visa” link.
- On the next page, you’ll need to enter your full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number. You will also need to provide your e-mail address and telephone number.
- Next, you’ll need to upload your passport photo. The photo should be 2 inches x 2 inches and in black and white. It should also have a resolution of at least 240 pixels per inch.
- You will then be asked to provide detailed information about your travel plans and why you want to visit India. Make sure you cite specific reasons for wanting to visit India, such as tourism or business purposes.
- Finally, pay the required fees using either PayPal or Visa/Mastercard/American Express (Visa Electron is no longer accepted). Once payment is complete, your application will be submitted!
For US citizens:
-You must have a valid passport that is currently valid and has at least six months remaining validity.
-You must be in good health and not have any medical conditions that would prevent you from traveling to India.
-You must not be on any government watch lists or list of persons banned from entering India.
-You must not have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude (a crime such as fraud, forgery, adultery, or perjury).
-Your passport photo should be 2×2 inches square and show a clear face with no sunglasses or hats.
