India’s Ministry of External Affairs has introduced a new online visa application system for Indians travelling to other countries. In order to facilitate the process, it is important that Indian travellers understand how online visas work and plan accordingly.
What is an Indian Visa?
If you are travelling to India for leisure or business purposes, you are required to obtain an Indian visa prior to travelling. The visa application process can be a little tricky, but with a little bit of patience and research, it can be done relatively easily. Indian Visa Online Application
There are two main ways to apply for an Indian visa: online or through the embassy or consulate in your home country. You can find more information on the websites of the respective embassies and consulates.
To apply online, you will need to have your passport details and a valid credit card orDebit card. You will also need to create an account with one of the many Indian visa processing companies that offer services at a cost. Once you have created your account, you will need to provide some personal information such as your full name (including first and last name), date of birth, passport number, address (including street number and city), contact telephone number and email address.
After submitting this information, you will be asked to submit photographs (2 per page) of yourself taken within the last 6 months that show your face clearly. You will also be asked to provide documentation that proves your identity, such as a driver’s license or passport from your home country. Once all of this information has been submitted, you will receive an automated response confirming receipt of your application.

Steps to follow for an Indian Visa Application

- First, find out if you need a visa. If you are a citizen of a country that is currently listed on the Indian visa-required countries list, you will need to obtain a visa before traveling to India. If your nationality is not on the list, but you have a valid travel document from a country that is on the list, then you will also need to obtain a visa. - Next, gather your documents. You will need your passport and one photo that meets the requirements of the Indian embassy or consulate where you are applying for your visa. You may also be required to provide other documents depending on your nationality and destination country.
- Apply online. The easiest way to apply for an Indian visa online is through our website’s easy-to-use application form. Once you have completed the form and uploaded all of your required documents, we will process your application and send you an email confirmation with details about your application status.
- Appear in person at an embassy or consulate office. If you applied online, please bring along all of your required documents (including the email confirmation from us) when you come to visit an embassy or consulate office in person for further processing of your visa application.
How to apply for Indian Visa Online
If you are looking to travel to India, you will need an Indian visa. There are a number of ways to apply for an Indian visa online. You can also apply for an Indian visa through your local embassy or consulate. Here are the steps to applying for an Indian visa online:
- Go to the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Border Control (DFAC) in India.
- On the DFAC website, click on the “Apply Online” button.
- You will be directed to a page where you will be asked to provide your name, address, contact number, email address and passport photo.
- You will also be required to fill out a form indicating your reasons for wanting to visit India and whether you have visited India before.
- Click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the form and follow the instructions that appear onscreen.
- If you have obtained a tourist visa before, you will need to enter this information into the “Previous Visa” box on the new application form.
