Recently, India has been instituting a new visa policy for citizens of Switzerland and New Zealand. What does this mean for you?
If you’re a citizen of Switzerland or New Zealand and you’re planning to travel to India in the near future, you’ll need to be aware of the new visa policy that’s been instituted recently by India. Under this new policy, citizens of Switzerland and New Zealand will no longer be allowed to stay in India for more than 60 days total in any 180-day period. This means that if you’re travelling to India between now and September 30th, 2019, you’ll need to get a visa prior to travelling. If you’re travelling after September 30th, 2019, you won’t need a visa but will still need to comply with all of the other Indian visa requirements.
This new policy has caused some confusion among Indians and Swiss citizens alike, as it’s not clear why this change has been made. Some believe that it’s because Switzerland is considering joining the European Union and India doesn’t want its citizens living in Europe. Others think that India is trying to reduce the number of foreigners visiting its country so that it can attract more Indian tourists instead. Regardless of why this change was made, it’s important for Swiss and New Zealand citizens who are planning on travelling to India in the near future to get their visas in advance.
